The School of Physical Therapy at MCPHS University invites applications for a full time 12-month faculty member to join our collaborative team in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Acute Care and Cardiovascular & Pulmonary content, as well as experience in teaching a broad range of content. Preference will be given to individuals with geriatrics expertise.

Our DPT program emphasizes proficiency in clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and strong patient/client management skills. Our integrated clinical education series includes service-learning in traditional clinical environments, non-traditional environments, and provides strong connections to the clinical community through our on-campus pro bono clinic. Professional development is threaded throughout the curriculum. Students in our DPT program also engage in regular interprofessional education activities with other programs at our University (including Physician Assistant Studies, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental Hygiene, Optometry, OT, Medical Sonography, and Accupuncture)

In addition to teaching, responsibilities for this faculty position include student advising, collaborative work with colleagues, research and scholarly engagement, and providing service to the program, University, region, and profession. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • Deliver didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats in the DPT Program.
  • Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms.
  • Support incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
  • Participate in service activities; serve on Department, School and/or University committees, as assigned; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees and volunteer activities; attend School and institutional activities; support student activities; and represent the program and University in/at community and professional functions.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations for professional development, and to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction and its application to clinical instruction.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.


The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Doctorate (DPT) from a CAPTE accredited institution required. Clinical specialization, completion of APTA-accredited residency and/or ABPTS certification or other advanced certification preferred.
  • CAPTE-recognized terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent) preferred. Candidates without an academic doctorate would be required to enroll in an academic doctorate program at an accredited institution within one year of hire.
  • A minimum of three to five years clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist.
  • Eligible for licensure in Massachusetts
  • Prior teaching experience at the post-baccalaureate level. Experience teaching physical therapist students is desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Record of scholarly productivity and evidence of service to the physical therapy profession.
