




Description
The Clinical Simulation Educator – RN supports the mission, purpose and goals of the Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (CELS) and will work collaboratively with the leadership, faculty and staff across the institution to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in in situ simulation activities. The Clinical Simulation Educator – RN will provide curricular and assessment guidance for educational activities related to simulation. This includes collaboration with simulation faculty to design, implement, facilitate and debrief manikin-based, standardized patient simulations. Clinical simulation faculty provide instruction and debriefing in an interprofessional environment that serves many clinical disciplines, including (but not limited to) medicine, physician assistant, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy and clinical psychology. The Clinical Simulation Educator – RN ensures activities support the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
Requirements
- Current RN license in state of Florida.
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in Education (MEd) required.
- Experience as a Nurse Educator preferred.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification required within two years of hire.
- Must possess a strong foundation in clinical skills, including history taking, physical examination, patient education, common clinical procedures, clinical documentation and interpersonal communication.
- Must have experience in clinical education with working knowledge of curriculum development and assessment.
- Experience working in a graduate-level academic institution preferred.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work/interact with diverse populations, showing respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
- Must be able to demonstrate combination of education, training and/or experience to possess the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.
- Three to five years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care and/or medical/surgical nursing and/or emergency or trauma condition, as well as excellent knowledge and understanding of human pathophysiology, preferred.
- Experience in simulation-based education and training, evaluation of outcomes, patient safety and implementation of innovative simulation-based education and training programs necessary, or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
- BLS, ACLS and/or PALS instructor.
- Knowledge of FERPA and ability to safeguard student records.
- Knowledge of Institutional Review Board protocols and ethical research standards.
- Competency in Microsoft suite of products preferred.
- Knowledge of/familiarity with best practices in simulation-based education and research and various simulation modalities (standardized patient, manikin-based simulation and virtual/web-based simulation) preferred.
